Day 56: Coming or Going

Camera: Nikon S570 (point-n-shoot)

Again, this is a "chronicling" shot.. I just really liked this walkway. I'm finding it tough to actually take a shot a day at times. Tough slash impossible.

Day 55: Joy of Reading

Nikon Coolpix S570 (point-n-shoot)

Some of my shots (with my SLR) are to build my portfolio and work on technique; some of my shots (point-n-shoot) are documenting where we've been; one of the joys of photoblogging! Where we were Thursday.

Day 54: Cheating

Camera: Nikon D5000; Editing, Emmy Mom

Ok, so I'm cheating today, but I feel this is important. I really love this shot in color, since you can sense the love between these two, and look at the glimmer in Echo's eye (black Lab, on right.) Also, Cayuga (on left) is literally "kissing" him, if you look closely!

Today's gorgeous example of what editing can do is brought to us by the lovely and talented Emmy, over at Emmy Mom's Photo Blog. I thank her for the help! And I, much like her, have been too swamped to shoot a proper shot for today!

Day 53: Baby Bites

Nikon D5000

This isn't a particularly well-composed shot, but too cute to pass up.

Day 52: Ears

Nikon D5000

She's such a pretty poser. She's my "posing" Lab. My other Lab just tolerates the camera in his face all the time. I'm definitely adding "dog photographer" to the list.

Day 51: Nose Kiss

It bothered me that the infant swing was SO blue in the background, and of course.. editing isn't possible for me yet. So I changed it up. Which one do you like best?

Day 50: Monkey See

Nikon d5000

Here's a whimsical shot I took the other day when I was really reaching to NOT get a snowy-wintery-mix shot. It's also to cheer up a friend whom I know stops by my photo blog. (:

A wind-up toy my toddler wound up getting (get it?) since they store them next to the checkout line in the toy store. Brilliant.

Day 49: My Cup Runneth Over

Nikon D5000

Read his cup!!! Isn't that incredible? I didn't even know the beauty of those words until I'd taken this shot. Coincidence?

Mother-love is not Inevitable. The good mother is a great artist ever creating beauty out of chaos.

Day 47: Sled

Nikon D5000

I know, I know. It's another snow shot! Ahhhhhhhhh!! But I have been staring at this sled for a few days, and I finally just shot it. It's still stuck in the snow like that.

Day 47: Self-Portrait (aka Not a Snow Shot)

Clearly the Nikon.

Hey, it's not a shot involving snow! How 'bout that? I've been reminded by some veteran 365ers to shoot a self-portrait every now and then. This wasn't my best day, but here it is.

Day 46: Sunlight

Nikon D5000

I'm constantly trying to figure out how to shoot streaming sunlight (it's called purchasing a new lens.) This didn't quite turn out like I thought it would.

Day 45: My Valentine's Day

Camera: Nikon D5000

The first step is admitting you have a problem. We admit it. My husband made - from scratch, homemade chocolate chip cookies for Valentine's Day. The kicker? I just ate two of them before posting. (:

Day 43: The Early Years

Camera: Nikon D5000

How about we look at something more pleasant than ten feet of snow outside my frozen-shut front door? My back aches (shoveling.) My toddler screams (cabin fever.) My husband grumbles (see toddler.) Yet my infant son sleeps, and smiles, and coos, and loves us all back tenfold.

Day 42: Bundle Me Up

Camera: Nikon D5000

I'm so, so over the snow. (I know, you wouldn't guess it from the shots I'm posting, right?) That seems to be our world right now, since we've been trapped at home for nearly a week.
But at least my toddler is loving it!

Day 41: The Crook of the Branch

Camera: Nikon D5000

Not the moon; actually a streetlight, lighting up the lasting dusting of snow. In the foreground is a dogwood, and I love how the snow gathers in the crook like that.

Day 40: Making History

Camera: Nikon D5000

They say the snow we're getting right now is very close to tying the all-time record snowfall for the Washington, DC metro area.. 54". From 1898!! And we're getting more as we speak, have all day. Hope you like snow shots.

Day 39: Icicle

Camera: NIkon D5000

Check out the color of the sky! What an icicle, had to capture that.

Day 38: Twinkle

Camera: Nikon D5000

I have so, so (so!) many snowy pictures to share as of late. BUT, at least it's a break from my toddler, my newborn, and my two furry kids.. right?!

I'm very happy to welcome everyone coming over from Write With Pictures, where F&P365 is the Monday Meme post today! Thanks so much everyone, and as always.. comments welcome. (:

Day 37: Snow My Gosh

Camera: Nikon S570 (point-n-shoot)

Wow, we got a crazy (historic) amount of snow! Snow is tough to shoot.. so much white, and not much contrast. This is a rough representation of how much we got. More to come!

Saturday, February 6, 2010

Day 36: Snowy Gate

Camera: Nikon D5000

This is nowhere near the best shot I've taken in the last few days, but I thought I must convey a sense of how much flipping snow we've gotten in the last 12 hours!.. and to do that, I needed some contrast, which the dark gate/house provide. We're at around 23-24 inches and counting!

Friday, February 5, 2010

Day 35: Boys and Their Shoes

Camera: Nikon D5000

I love differences.. size differences, changes in light, close up v. distance. And (all) my boys' shoes made for an excellent exercise in difference.. baby, toddler, and grown-up!

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Day 34: Focus

Camera: Nikon D5000

My black Lab, Echo, ever watchful for intruders, squirrels, or stray snowcats. pI thought this shot was apropos today, as we sit and wait for the massive winter storm that will, apparently, be burying us in 100 inches of snow Fri-Sat. Hope that means lots of outdoor shots!

Day 33: Cheekbones

Camera: Nikon D5000

I love what this camera can do, and love even more that things turn out so much better in natural light! It's tough to shoot kids indoors with low/poor lighting, so I went a little crazy with the camera in the last few days with all the snow we've gotten. My toddler obliged!

Day 31: Snow on Snout

Camera: Nikon D5000

What does this look say to you?
So many great snow pics to post this week! I hope you're as excited as I am.
